As I mentioned in a previous post, although I wasn’t able to go to THE Carnaval in Oruro as originally planned, I was able to experience a bit of Carnaval in Santa Cruz. I have posted my pictures for all to see! I was able to go and experience the festivities twice. The first time was to see the Entrada, or parade. There are floats, dancers and bands. It was quite the sight! There were tonnes of people out to see it. My t-shirt is now my official souvenir, because the paint that I was sprayed with does not wash out! The second time was to a party in the street. On the final day of Carnaval, the whole centre of town is shut to traffic and there are numerous random parties going on here and there at any one time. A coworker and I went wandering and danced a little bit to the music of Santa Cruz! I only wish I had had more time to experience Carnaval to it’s fullest. Next time!

Mud

Meghan,
The mud looks amazing, it is everywhere including tents and outhouses. The people living in the truck trailers had the right idea to live above the mud and ....
Are all the outhouses the squat type? If they are the ladies must have strong thigh muscles.
I gather form the pictures that the flooding covered a very wide area and must have displaced many people. I didn't notice any flooded areas in the pictures of Santa Cruz, were there any?
You did a lot of work and learned so much that your head is probably growing. Keep up the great work
